Says it all rite?!

When I grow up I wanna' be just like u miss Chimamanda...!
The nigerian "beauty & brains is" the well deserving winner of the

2007 Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction ( very prestigious by the way)

The soon to be 30 year old writter/student (yep can u believe that w/her busy schedule as a writer , homegirl is attending Yale for an MA in African Studies...oh and also never mind that she already has a masters in creative writting from John Hopkins)...

She's def' is not playing, I like the fact that she challenges herself continiously ...many people would have just been happy w/the recognition she received after her 1st book!

Her latest book "Half of a Yellow Sun" (pretty title by the way) centers around the Biafra /Nigeria war which ravaged the country from 1967-1970....btw the self proclaimed republic of Biafra and the Northern Part of Naja who didn't want to grant the people of Biafra their independence because it will give them total monopole over the oil ressources (reminds me of the Senegal/Casamance conflict) that were in 2 Southern part of Naja..

Of course during that war our European fathers had to come mind other people businesses..some supporting the North and the others Biafra....this war became a giagantic mess resulting in the death of at least 1 million of people because of the Famine...(Medecins Sans Frontieres were not even allowed to come to those dying people help)

WHY ARE WE HUMAN BEINGS SOMETIMES SO BLINDED BY PRIDE, GREED, VENGEANCE?
To come back to miss Chimamanda, she was inspired by her grandfathers who lived this tragedy...

I'll say u go girl...we need talents and voices like yours...keep reaching for the sky..because u show us that we

AFRICAN WOMEN CAN DO IT, CAN INFLUENCE THE WORLD & GET THE WORLD TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT WE GOT TO SAY...

Feeling the Zouk girl!!!

I wasnt born yet when the Bafra war happened but i remember hearing about it growing up. I still hear about it today. I will try to get the book to better understand why and how it happened. Same thing happening in Darfur, so sad. A silent african genocide as usual....
